Jose Enrique has stated on Twitter that Newcastle United transfer target Rafael Leao is an ‘incredible’ player after he helped AC Milan progress through to the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Napoli are heading towards Serie A title glory, and for the most part, they have dominated the Italian league this season, up until they have faced the might of AC Milan and the trickery of, Rafael Leao.

A number of weeks ago, he netted a brace in Naples, as AC Milan secured a shock 4-0 win in the league and he was at it again last night.

This time, the Portugal international danced past several Napoli players, before cutting the ball back to Olivier Giroud from inside the penalty area to score the only goal of the game, as the seven-time European Cup winners secured a 2-0 aggregate win over their fellow countryman.

The 23-year-old’s stock is rising, especially in the transfer market, with recent rumours suggesting that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United joined Manchester City in the race for the £79 million star.

Well, a former Newcastle United player was impressed by what he saw from the all-action forward in the Champions League last night, as he posted on Twitter.

NEWCASTLE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

There is every chance that AC Milan miss out on Champions League football next season because they are holding onto fourth spot in Serie A.

They might just have to win the Champions League itself, in order to qualify for next season’s competition.

If they don’t, then it will be interesting to see if players like Leao leave, especially if teams like Newcastle United, with their big pockets and possible Champions League football, come knocking.
