‘Incredible’: Jordan Henderson thinks player Liverpool sold for £44m will ‘get better’

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has raved about Manchester City star Raheem Sterling on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.

Henderson played with Sterling at Liverpool before the England international moved to Premier League rivals City in the summer of 2015 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £44 million.

The England international midfielder has been impressed with how his compatriot has progressed, and believes that the 25-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, can still improve.

Henderson said about Sterling on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, as transcribed by The Mirror: “Raheem [Sterling]. I saw him at the start of his journey and it’s been incredible till now for him. I’m sure he can still improve and get better, so I’m excited to see what’s to come from him.”

Another level

Sterling did well when he was at Liverpool, but at City under manager Pep Guardiola, the Englishman has taken his game to another level.

The 25-year-old’s end product has improved, and he can now score goals as well as creates chances for his teammates.

According to WhoScored, Sterling has scored 11 goals and provided one assist in the Premier League, and has scored five goals and provided two assists in the Champions League for City this season.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the England international scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in the league, and scored five goals and provided two assists in the Champions League for City, according to WhoScored.
