West Ham legend John Hartson spoke exclusively to the Express, and raved about the quality of Jack Wilshere, labelling the midfielder as incredible, exceptional and under-appreciated.

Manuel Pellegrini brought Wilshere to the London Stadium from Arsenal on a free transfer this summer, and he has been heavily tipped to be a real hit in east London.

The 26-year-old burst onto the scene for Arsenal when he was just 17-years-old, running the midfield against the mighty Barcelona at the Emirates.

Unfortunately for him, though, injuries have seriously hampered his development, and he has never really reached the heights that were expected of him.

Hartson, though, believes that he is an incredibly gifted player, and will be a real hit with West Ham.

The Welshman, who was an immensely popular figure amongst the Hammers fanbase, told the Express how he believes that Wilshere in under-appreciated:

“His weight of pass is incredible, that’s underrated. He can ghost past people and play the perfect pass. His appreciation of players around him is exceptional, he isn’t appreciated enough in my opinion. I know has hasn’t played a lot of football but last season he proved he could do it.”

Wilshere faces what will be an emotional return to the Emirates next week, and West Ham fans will be hoping that the midfielder puts in an inspired display, with their club in desperate need of all three points.
