Mesut Özil’s agent Kia Joorabchian has told talkSPORT that his client ‘doesn’t fit’ Arsenal’s mould anymore.

When discussing the German’s situation on Thursday, the 49-year-old told Jim White and Simon Jordan: ‘It’s just pure stupidity. He’s a big player, but he just doesn’t fit the Arsenal mould today.

‘He has a lot of talent, he’s a World Cup winner, this is a player who should be playing somewhere right now.’

The former Real Madrid playmaker was left out of Mikel Arteta’s Premier League squad this week, and he’s also been axed from the club’s Europa League squad.

Özil hasn’t featured for the Gunners since grabbing an assist for Alexandre Lacazette in a win over West Ham back in March.

With just the current campaign left on his contract, it looks as if the 32-year-old will spend the remainder of his Arsenal career in the stands, sadly.

It’s a heartbreaking way to see the Gunners No.10 – whose attitude was described as ‘incredible’ by Arteta in December – finish his spell in north London.

Sky Sports quote the Spaniard as saying: ‘To be fair his attitude in training since the day that I walked in the building has been incredible.’

Since joining the club in 2013 for £42.4 million, Özil has made 254 appearances for Arsenal, more than he’s made for any other side.

In that time, he’s registered 44 goals and 77 assists.

To leave him out entirely just seems foolish, to be honest.

There’s an asset costing the club £350,000-a-week according to Spotrac, so to not even name him in the squad seems like a complete waste of resources.

However, if – as Joorabchian states – the attacking midfielder doesn’t fit Arteta’s mould, then there’s not much the Arsenal supporters can do about the sad situation.
