West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has revealed on the club’s official website how he reacted to his side’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

The Hammers suffered a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Slaven Bilic’s side were leading the London derby 2-1 heading into the final minutes, but they conceded twice late on to drop all three points.

West Ham co-chairman Gold has revealed how disappointed he was with the team’s failure to pick up all three points from the encounter.

The Englishman has also shared his optimism ahead of the match against Manchester United this weekend.

The London outfit will take on United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

“I was inconsolable for a couple of days after the result, but I managed to take time and reflect on the overall performance and we could have easily come away with a 2-1 victory and the situation would look a lot different for us,” Gold wrote on West Ham’s official website.

“We have another big game at Old Trafford on Sunday and hopefully we can show the form that saw us compete so well against all the big teams last season,” added Gold.

“I can remember a time when we would fear the worst going to a place like Old Trafford but I don’t feel like that anymore. I am optimistic going into these big games and I believe Slaven and the players feel the same.”
