Marseille were beaten 4-3 by Monaco.
Marseille’s Florian Thauvin in action
Newcastle United loanee Florian Thauvin was on the losing side for the second time in a week as Marseille suffered another home defeat.
He spoke after the game expressing his disappointment, and admitted he could have done better for Monaco’s first goal.
He told L’Equipe: “I do not even know what to say, I’m so disgusted with what happened tonight. On the first goal, the free kick, I have my share of responsibility.”
Thauvin’s performance was rated a lowly 3/10 by Maxifoot, which branded him one of the biggest disappointments of the evening.
The report stated: “His attitude in the wall on the opening of the score is incomprehensible and on the second Monaco goal, he completely forgets Mendy behind his back. He gave the impression of playing without believing it tonight.”

Thauvin was overshadowed by his Newcastle predecessor Remy Cabella, who came off the bench to score two goals to add to one from Dimitri Payet.
Ultimately it proved fruitless as Thomas Lemar netted an extra time winner for Monaco, compounding the 5-1 defeat suffered at home to Paris Saint-Germain days earlier, sealing Marseille’s exit from the Coupe de France.
Thauvin, 24, has scored seven goals and provided three assists this season.
