Speaking to Stadium Astro, Jack Wilshere has been speaking about Arsene Wenger and the fact that he’s distanced himself from Arsenal in recent years.
Wenger is undoubtedly one of the Gunners’ biggest ever legends, but for one reason or another, he’s very rarely, if ever, seen at the Emirates these days.
Wilshere says that it’s sad that Wenger doesn’t spend much time back at his old club, but he thinks he’ll be back one day, perhaps even in a day-to-day capacity.
What’s been said?
Wilshere was speaking about the situation with Wenger.
“I think it is a bit sad, but in time I think you will see him back, I’m sure that, like anyone, who leaves a job, he’s still upset with how things went, but like anything time heals. I’d like to see him back, in the training ground there’s still a big picture of him on the wall and his legacy lives on, hopefully one day we’ll see him back,” Wilshere said.
Wilshere was then asked about Wenger having a day-to-day role at Arsenal.
“I think that has to be between him and the club and the manager, there was a bit of talk about it and how it would work, if that did happen it wouldn’t be a problem for Arteta because of how Arsene is he wouldn’t say ‘we need to do this and that’, he’d be there for guidance. Hopefully in time we can see something like that,” Wilshere said.

Shame if not
It would be a real shame if Wenger never came back to Arsenal in some capacity.
The Frenchman loves the club, and, to be honest, Arsenal could do with having him around the place.
Mikel Arteta is still a very young manager, and having someone like Wenger to turn to for advice could be massive for him.
Fingers crossed Wilshere is right and Wenger is back at Arsenal soon in some sort of capacity.
