Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared what he knows about Weston McKennie’s situation heading into the final days of the January transfer window.

The American midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs this month, and according to Romano, there is a chance that he will get his move in the final days of the transfer window.

The journalist noted that Aston Villa had made a loan approach for McKennie, while Spurs also retain an interest in the World Cup star.

McKennie could move

Romano spoke about the Juventus ace.

“I think it is a possibility and it remains a possibility in the final days of the transfer window. It depends on the proposals, because Juventus were only approach on loan for Weston McKennie. It was Aston Villa interested and some other clubs in England, but nobody arrived with €15/18m that Juventus want,” Romano said.

“Tottenham have always been interested in McKennie, it was only a loan though. I think Juventus will let him go on loan with an obligation to buy clause included or a permanent move, I can’t see a straight loan.”

This year’s Bentancur

A talented midfielder from Juventus courted by both Aston Villa and Tottenham at the end of the January transfer window, where have we heard that before?

This almost perfectly mirrors last season’s race for Rodrigo Bentancur, and last time out, Spurs were the winners.

Villa need to make sure they beat Tottenham to the signing of McKennie, because losing out two winter windows in a row to the same club would be painful.

Keep an eye on this one right up until the deadline.
