Aston Villa are reportedly hoping to tie up a deal for defender John Terry this week.
According to the Daily Express, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told transfer target John Terry that he could become a future manager at Villa Park in an attempt to convince him to join.
Villa have yet to dip into the transfer market this summer as Bruce attempts to work within Financial Fair Play regulations, but that hasn’t stopped him from targeting one of the biggest-name free agents.

Defender John Terry is searching for a new club having ended his 22-year association with Chelsea this summer, with his final game for the Blues coming against Sunderland last month.
Terry, 36, racked up more than 700 appearances and 17 trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge, captaining both Chelsea and England in a superb career – but he is now looking for his next club.
The Daily Express report that Villa have offered Terry a one-year deal worth £60,000-a-week and a £2million bonus should Villa win promotion back to the Premier League next season.
That makes Villa the clear favourites to seal the deal, but manager Bruce is really keen to push the move through, and has allegedly told Terry that could eventually replace him as the next Aston Villa manager.

Terry is allegedly keen to become a manager when his playing days are over, and Bruce seemingly believes that he has the tools to take the job at Villa Park when he moves on.
If true, that pathway to the dugout could be hugely appealing to Terry, and it may cement Villa’s place as the favourites to sign the free agent defender in what would be a huge coup for the Championship club.
