Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to divulge in conversation over Kylian Mbappé, after journalist Sam McGuire made an interesting comment.

McGuire jokingly tweeted a post about Nike potentially paying a portion of the Frenchman’s Liverpool salary if he moved to Liverpool, in order to keep him out of Real Madrid’s adidas shirts.

This is something that Nike have actually done before.

When Frenkie de Jong was pondering over a move to either Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona, Nike helped facilitate a move to the latter.

The sportswear giants contributed nothing to his £65 million transfer fee, but agreed to pay a large amount of the Dutchman’s salary according to ESPN.

Nike took over from New Balance at Anfield for the start of the current campaign, and if they did help Mbappé move to Anfield, they would surely be loved by all on the red half of Merseyside.

L’Équipe have previously revealed that Liverpool and Real Madrid are set to fight it out for the World Cup winner in 2021.
