Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to reveal that Borussia Dortmund are confident of beating Liverpool and Newcastle to Karim Adeyemi.

What’s the story?

Well, it was Bild who claimed that Liverpool are interesting in signing the Germany international, whereas Sport1 revealed that Newcastle are keen.

Now, Borussia Dortmund could be about to throw a spanner in the works.

Romano believes the Bundesliga side are confident of signing the £34m-rated forward, and have been in talks with RB Salzburg since November.

The Italian journalist adds that Borussia Dortmund view Adeyemi as their main target, and negotiations are already at an advanced stage.

You can see what Romano wrote on Twitter below.

That certainly isn’t good news for Liverpool and Newcastle.

By the sounds of it, Borussia Dortmund are closing in on the 20-year-old wonderkid.

Liverpool and Newcastle must act

In our view, Adeyemi is never going to be cheaper than he is right now.

The Germany prodigy is one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe, and his goalscoring tally so far this season is very impressive.

Adeyemi has scored 18 goals in all competitions so far this term.

The last striker to swap RB Salzburg for Borussia Dortmund was Erling Haaland, and look how high his star has risen.

The Norwegian has scored 80 goals in 79 games for the German side, and is now worth substantially more than the £17.1m paid by Borussia Dortmund.

If Adeyemi follows a similar trajectory, Liverpool and Newcastle will kick themselves that they didn’t spend a bit more to fend off Borussia Dortmund.
