Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier and Dele Alli are expected to play a part against Malta on Saturday evening in Gareth Southgate’s first match in charge.

It was hard work at St. George’s Park as England prepared for Saturday’s showdown with Malta at Wembley Stadium.
For the past week, Gareth Southgate has been putting the Three Lions through their paces as he takes over the reigns from Sam Allardyce in an interim capacity, but a good showing in the four games in which he has been placed in charge could see him land the role permanently.
Among the Three Lions are a quartet of Tottenham players, with full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose expected to keep their places in the side along with Dele Alli, although Eric Dier may be set for a place on the bench having made his comeback from injury as a late substitute in the win against Manchester City.
It has been a superb start to the season for Tottenham, sitting pretty in second place just a point behind City, and is their best start to a season since 1960-61 when they won the league and FA Cup double.

Could they do it again? They have given a good account of themselves so far but they ran out of steam towards the end of last season, so they will be hoping that experience plays a part this time around as they look for a first league success for more than 55 years.
At the moment though, all focus is on England, and Southgate’s side will expect maximum points from their two World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia as the FA look to quickly put behind them the controversy and embarrassment that led to Allardyce’s departure.
Ahead of the clash with the minnows Malta, here is a selection of pictures of the Spurs stars in action with kick-off just a few hours away.
