In fact, half the clubs in the division changed manager this season as the pressure really ramped up in England’s top flight.
Dick Advocaat was the first manager to leave his position, as he departed Sunderland right at the beginning of the campaign.
Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool followed him, with the new Celtic manager the official first sacking of the 2015/16 Premier League campaign.
Easily the most high profile sacking was Jose Mourinho as Chelsea removed him from his position following a disastrous title defence.
His second exit from Stamford Bridge came less than a year after winning the Premier League title with the Blues.
Louis van Gaal’s departure from Manchester United was also something of a surprise as he left Old Trafford despite securing them the FA Cup against Crystal Palace.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa sacked Tim Sherwood and Remi Garde, Swansea City sacked Garry Monk, Newcastle United removed Steve McClaren, Roberto Martinez left Everton and Quique Sanchez Flores was bewilderingly sacked by Watford.
