Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has claimed that Whites captain Liam Cooper is the best he has ever worked with during his time as a football coach after their 3-0 win against Watford.
Speaking to the Athletic, the American manager revealed that Cooper is the best skipper Marsch has ever worked with, with the Leeds defender putting in a heroic performance against Watford this weekend.
The Whites secured their first clean sheet since November as the Yorkshire giants made another huge step away from the relegation zone, with Marsch’s side now nine points clear of Burnley, who play Norwich City later this afternoon.
Cooper has been instrumental to Leeds in the eight years the Scotland international has been at the club, with the 30-year-old a key pillar for the club where this weekend the defender was key against Watford.
With Leeds having one of the worst defences in the Premier League, a clean sheet against a relegation rival in Watford is a huge result, with Marsch claiming ten points from his previous four matches.
And one player who has really caught the eye of the American is Cooper, with Marsch saying about the Leeds skipper after their win against Watford: “I haven’t had a better captain in my entire time as a coach.”
Cooper influence was massive as Leeds thrash Watford

Scepticism was high when Marsch replaced Marcelo Bielsa earlier this year, but after Leeds’ win against Watford this weekend, the decision is proving to be one of the best the club have made in recent memory, and Cooper’s influence continues to flourish.
Indeed, one clean sheet can lead to another for Leeds, and after their statement win against Watford, Marsch and Cooper have the potential to form an excellent manager-captain relationship in the coming years.
