Swansea City head coach Michael Duff has said that he is about to complete the signing of Harrison Ashby from Newcastle United.
According to BBC Sport, Newcastle United right-back Harrison Ashby underwent a medical at Swansea City on Monday.
Ashley will leave Premier League club Newcastle and join Championship side Swansea on a loan deal in the summer transfer window.
Swansea head coach Duff has said that the 21-year-old will be part of his squad for next season.
BBC Sport quotes Duff as saying about Ashby: “Harrison Ashby’s in the door. We’re just waiting for the registration to be signed off.
“We wanted him in 10 days ago, but he’s ultimately Newcastle’s player, so we’re at the hands of other people sometimes.
“We’re hoping he’ll be available for selection on Saturday.”
Backward step for Newcastle United defender Harrison Ashby
In our opinion, Harrison Ashby leaving Newcastle United for Swansea City in the summer transfer window is a backward step for the right-back.
Yes, it is only a season-long loan deal, but we believe that it is still a step down for the right-back.

Ashby joined Newcastle from Premier League rivals West Ham United in the January transfer window.
The Magpies paid the Hammers £3 million including add-ons for the 21-year-old (Sky Sports) in transfer fees.
Kieran Trippier is the number one right-back at Newcastle, so it was always going to be tough for Ashby to get into Eddie Howe’s team ahead of the former Tottenham Hotspur star.
However, Ashby could still have a backup to Trippier.
Newcastle need a big squad for next season, as the Magpies will play in the UEFA Champions League.
Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo are the other two right-back options for Newcastle.
Yes, Swansea are a big club that will aim for promotion from the Championship, but it would have been better for Ashby if he had stayed at Newcastle at least for the first half of the new season.
