According to Niccolò Ceccarini, Antonio Conte is likely to make a move to bring Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic to Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, Ceccarini was commenting on Gianluca Di Marzio‘s report, which stated that Arsenal have reached an agreement for Vlahovic.
However, that agreement has only been reached with Fiorentina, and not the 21-year-old himself, so Tottenham still have a chance.
Di Marzio added that Vlahovic may choose to wait for bigger offers in the summer, which is exactly when Ceccarini thinks Spurs could get involved.
As quoted by Fiorentina News, the market expert said: “Today’s news is Arsenal’s offer to Fiorentina for Vlahovic. The figure we are talking about is very important, but in addition to the interest of the Gunners, I also expect an offer from Tottenham, perhaps in June.
“However, I’m not so convinced that he can move to London. I expect more teams to come out for the Serbian in the summer.”
Clearly, Ceccarini isn’t too confident about Vlahovic joining Arsenal or Tottenham.
Di Marzio believes Arsenal have agreed an €80m (£68m) fee for the 12-cap Serbia international, so Spurs would have to match that sum, if not surpass it.
Should Tottenham spend big on Dusan Vlahovic?
In our view, the Fiorentina No.9 is worth spending a significant sum on – he looks likely to become one of the next generation’s leading frontmen.
Vlahovic won the Serie A Young Player of the Season award last term, after scoring 21 goals in Serie A.
He has continued his fine form this season with ten goals in just 12 games – the wonderkid is absolutely lethal in front of goal.
Harry Kane is the first name on the teamsheet in a system which only accommodates one No.9, although he won’t be at Tottenham forever.
The 28-year-old, of course, wanted to leave Spurs. Even if he decides to stay, Conte needs another centre-forward to compete with him.
In Vlahovic, who’s seven years younger than Kane, Tottenham would have a fantastic long-term heir to his throne.
