Ainsley Maitland-Niles has claimed that Gabriel Martinelli ‘loves a nutmeg’ in Arsenal training, as he told the club’s official Twitch account.

The Arsenal academy product stated that it shouldn’t be a surprise that Martinelli has that in his locker because it’s ‘in his DNA’.

After all, every Brazilian is born with a couple of tricks up their sleeves and the ability to put many opposition players on their backside.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Martinelli grew up watching clips of World Cup winner and Brazil legend Ronaldinho on YouTube.

The 20-year-old would have been too young to see him in the flesh, but he would have no doubt known about him growing up in Sao Paulo.

Nonetheless, this is what Maitland-Niles had to say about who does the most nutmegs in training.

“Martinelli loves a nutmeg,” said Maitland-Niles. “He loves trying a nutmeg. It’s in his DNA, he is Brazilian.”

It has been two years since Arsenal paid £6 million for Martinelli’s talents (Goal) and it has been a Topsy-Turvy time for the player in North London.

Both the forward himself and fans may feel that he should earn more minutes out on the pitch because he has produced a number of exciting moments.

That goal and run against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge does stand out, but it also needs to be remembered that he only turned 20, so he has plenty of time left to earn those regular minutes.
