The Tottenham Hotspur defender was linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion last year.

Prior to his loan move to Sevilla in January, Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio was linked with a switch to Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion (by the Birmingham Mail among others).
Ultimately that move did not come off and in hindsight it may have been a very lucky escape for the Baggies.
The Argentine later had a loan spell to forget, sent off just 25 minutes into his debut and going on to make just five more appearances for the Europa League winners in all competitions.

It was one hell of a fall from grace for a player who had featured 197 times for Sevilla prior to his move to White Hart Lane. However this is a very different defender – one devoid of confidence and with limited options ahead of next season.
After all, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to find a place for him in his first-team squad given the quality defenders at his disposal, while clubs like West Brom are likely to steer clear this time round.

Someone may take a chance and things could turn out well for Fazio, but at 29 he is not getting any younger and his fateful spell back in Spain is going to live long in the memories of those managers who once thought him a viable option.
The Baggies have reportedly moved on, with the Express & Star claiming Steven Caulker is now Tony Pulis’s top target ahead of Aston Villa’s Ciaran Clark.
Things could have been very different if Fazio had moved to The Hawthorns when he had the chance but West Brom are unlikely to mind now.
