El Nacional have claimed that Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard is “in full decline”, comparing him to Mesut Ozil.
The Spanish news outlet have pointed at Odegaard not starting matches for Arsenal recently and not completing 90 minutes.
El Nacional have praised Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti for sanctioning the permanent transfer of the Norway international attacking midfielder for €40 million (£34.24 million)
Ancelotti was also the manager of Madrid back in 2013 when the Spanish giants sold Ozil to Arsenal for £42.4 million.
The news outlet has added that there is still time for Odegaard not to become Ozil 2.0.
Bizarre claim
In our view, this is a very strange claim from El Nacional.
Yes, it did not happen for Odegaard at Madrid, and Ancelotti does have an eye for talent.
However, it is too early to say that the Norwegian is in decline.
Come on, he is only 22.
The Arsenal no. 8 has scored one goal in eight Premier League appearances so far this season.
The former Madrid star has not created a single big chance in the league this campaign.
Of course, it is clear that Odegaard has to improve, but no way is the youngster in decline.
