The midfielder has been in fine form at Hillsborough this season.
Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sam Hutchinson has given the clearest indication yet that he would like to remain with the Owls for a long time, perhaps even the rest of his career.
It is a career that has had serious knocks. He retired in 2010 with a serious knee injury but came out of retirement in 2011. He still struggled with fitness woes after his comeback before initially joining Wednesday on loan in February 2014.
He joined the club permanently that summer and has not looked back since.
The 27-year-old, who has seen his career come so close to an early end, is now loving playing football and doing so for Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday’s Sam Hutchinson reacts
He told The Guardian this week:
“I can only see the club going forwards.
“There’s no reason for me to leave. This is the only club I’ve really played at, so it means something to be here.
“I was at Chelsea for a long time but I never had anything to do with anything they won. Even the play-off final last season – that meant more to me than anything at Chelsea, because I was part of the team. This season I feel an even bigger part of it, which is amazing. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, just play football.”

Owls fans will be very happy to hear this. Hutchinson has been in excellent form for the club recently, picking up three Player of the Month awards. The combative midfielder is proving to be a brilliant asset in the club’s hunt for promotion to the Premier League.
He has just signed a new deal to remain at Hillsborough for the foreseeable future and Sheffield Wednesday fans will hope he can continue his brilliant form.
