Leeds and Tottenham duo did battle in Eredivisie clash.

An Eredivisie game at the weekend pitted two loan stars from English football on opposite sides.
Excelsior boasted Tottenham youngster Marcus Edwards, and VVV Venlo had Leeds United loanee Jay-Roy Grot.
Excelsior won the game 1-0, with both loan players wasteful in front of goal.
Tottenham’s Marcus Edwards impressed in the previous week, providing an assist and earning his way into the Eredivisie team of the week.
There was no such successful follow up this weekend.

Edwards was substituted off after 70 minutes of the home fixture, with no chances created and no shots on target from two attempts.
It was a sign the 19-year-old is not going to have it all his own way this season out on loan despite an impressive start.
On the other side, Leeds United forward Jay-Roy Grot was at the centre of Venlo’s play, but frustrated with his poor finishing.

He was denied by the woodwork, having six shots at goal and only getting one on target.
Between Edwards and Grot, they managed one shot on target from eight attempts, a sign why they are currently out on loan rather than starring for their club’s first teams.
Both players have shown promising flashes this season already, but this won’t be a weekend they look back on with distinction.
