Ben Davies hasn’t yet played for Liverpool, and Sepp van den Berg is currently the big winner from that move.

The Reds snapped up Davies from Preston on deadline day in February, and sent young defender Van den Berg to Deepdale on loan as part of the move.

Van den Berg may be a centre back by trade, but he’s actually been playing mostly as a right back or right wing back during his time with North End.

Fans have loved the Dutchman so far; he’s been confident on the ball and adapted well to new roles, which will certainly aid his development.

The 19-year-ld is scheduled to return to Anfield this summer, but The Athletic now report that a number of clubs want to sign Van den Berg on loan for next season.

Preston have priority thanks to an agreement reached in the initial loan deal, and Van den Berg has now shared his thoughts.

The in-demand teenager has told Lancs Live that it’s an ‘easy answer’ when it comes to where he wants to play next season – it’s Preston.

Van den Berg admitted that he has noticed that North End fans like him, and given that he is loving his time at Deepdale, he wants to play for Preston again next season despite the other interest in him.

“For me it’s further down the line yeah, of course I have noticed it a little bit which makes me happy and confident – that people are happy for me to be here,” said Van den Berg. “That is nice to hear and like I say I’m really enjoying it here, and if in the summer my time at Liverpool isn’t ready yet and I have to go out on loan again, then if Preston is still an opportunity for me I would love to come back.”

“That’s an easy answer for me, I love it here. Of course, when you sign on loan you’re hoping to play but it’s not easy – I’m really happy, just getting the experience and getting the minutes in, for me especially still being young. I really like the team atmosphere, the people around here are really nice and yeah I’m enjoying it,” he added.
