Carlo Ancelotti has told Everton’s official Youtube channel that he could well recall Allan to start this evening.

Allan has been out injured since December, but was only fit enough to be named on Everton’s bench on Sunday.

The Brazilian has now had even more time on the training ground, though.

And Everton boss Ancelotti has hinted that he could return against Manchester City later.

“Allan is in contention. He is fit. He is good. He is available to play,” Ancelotti said.

If Allan is fit it will be a major boost to Everton’s chances.

The Toffees will need Allan’s defensive intelligence and energy to get among a City side who have been unstoppable recently.

Everton are heading into the fixture off the back of a disappointing defeat against Fulham, but a win tonight would really raise spirits.

The Toffees are currently in seventh place, but will move to within two points of the top four with victory.
