Ralf Rangnick has been speaking to the media ahead of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Tottenham later today.

Interestingly, the £180,000-a-week man aimed a brutal dig at Spurs.

What’s the story?

Well, Rangnick has pretty much delivered his own version of Sir Alex Fergusons’s famous “lads, it’s Tottenham” statement.

As quoted by Manchester United’s official website, the German said: “It’s not a team who, if we play at the best possible level, it’s not impossible to beat them. In all respect, if Middlesbrough, Burnley and Wolverhampton can beat them, we can also beat them in our own stadium and this is what we have to do, this is our job.”

Clearly, the 63-year-old expects his side to beat Tottenham.

In our view, we’re not really sure what point Rangnick is trying to make here – he clearly has a very short memory.

Yes, Tottenham did lose to Middlesbrough and Wolves, but so did Manchester United – both defeats even happened in 2022!

Therefore, we’re not exactly sure how Rangnick feels he can use that as a stick to beat Tottenham with, as his side are in the same boat.

Tottenham must beat Manchester United

Back in October, many Spurs fans actually portrayed the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United as a victory, as it saw Nuno Espirito Santo depart.

Antonio Conte arrived as his replacement, and it seemed Tottenham fans were happy to take that loss, given what it resulted in.

Many also felt that Manchester United should’ve hired Conte while he was available, so Spurs simply have to beat the Red Devils this evening if they want to justify their celebrations over that 3-0 defeat.

Additionally, this is a monumental game in the race for Champions League qualification.

Tottenham are currently sat seventh on 45 points, two behind Manchester United who sit fifth on 47 points.

However, Spurs have two games in hand, so things would be looking very good indeed if they can secure three points later today.
