Peter Crouch has admitted that the quality of Andy Robertson’s header for Liverpool today took him back a bit.
The newly-crowned Premier League champions welcomed Burnley to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s side looked to pick up another win.
And it got off to a good start when the Scottish left-back headed Liverpool into a 1-0 lead on 34 minutes.
Fabinho lofted a wonderful ball into the box and Robertson, from the trickiest of angles, managed to direct his head into the far corner beyond the wonderful Nick Pope.
Former Liverpool striker Crouch knows a thing or two about headed goals, having graced this famous club with his 6’7 frame at one point during his career.
And speaking to BT Sport, the now-retired marksman was at a loss to explain how the left-back managed to score like that.
He said: “In all honesty, I can’t explain it. What a full-back is doing heading a ball like that, I’ll never know. What a header that is.”
It really was an astonishing header from the former Hull City defender.
Scoring in the first place is quite a rare occurance for Robertson, who has four goals in 148 Premier League games, but when they come packaged like that it’s even more special.
Despite his headed heroics, Liverpool weren’t able to pick up the win, as Jay Rodriguez’s second-half equaliser denied the champs three points.
