Fabrizio Romano has provided Everton fans with a fresh update on Bernard’s future, with just days until Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Italian journalist revealed that Al-Nasr are in advanced talks with the Toffees in regards to signing the 14-cap Brazil international.

Romano adds that personal terms have been agreed, and negotiations are on between the two clubs – presumably regarding a fee.

You can see what the reliable transfer specialist tweeted in full below.

It will be a shame to see Bernard leave Goodison Park, although there’s no denying that this is a necessary sale for the Toffees.

Carlo Ancelotti has handed the 28-year-old just two Premier League starts so far this season.

In that respect, he’s by no means a vital first-team figure.

Additionally, Everton are paying the former Shakhtar Donetsk attacker a whopping £120,000-a-week, which is far too much for someone who isn’t a regular starter.

In fact, Bernard’s eye-watering salary means he’s the club’s highest earner, along with Yerry Mina.

The South American has always given his all to the Toffees, but Everton cannot be paying such significant wages to someone who isn’t vital to them.

If Marcel Brands can shift Bernard’s wages, and get a bit of cash for him which Ancelotti can reinvest, then there can be few complaints.
