Liverpool defender Nat Phillips is reportedly on West Ham’s radar ahead of the January transfer window, with the Irons eager to sign a centre-back.
According to the Evening Standard, the Hammers are keen to bring in a replacement for Kurt Zouma. The French international is expected to be out for as long as three months, and with Angelo Ogbonna also out on the injury table, West Ham are short in defence.
As per the report, James Tarkowski has been suggested in recent weeks. However, attentions are now turning to Phillips, who could be a cheaper and younger option to the Burnley defender.
The Liverpool talent started last night against AC Milan, with the centre-back putting in a solid shift against a side who have been one of the best in Italy this season. Yet it was Phillips’ Cruyff Turn in his own penalty box that wowed supporters on social media.
Indeed, the defender is Liverpool’s fifth-choice centre-back, with reports suggesting that Phillips will be open to a move in January if he can be guaranteed first-team football. And West Ham could be a perfect fit.
The Bolton-born player will no doubt play regular football with the east London side both short at the back and set to play in the UEFA Europa League knockout stage. And fans on social media are eager for Moyes to sign the 24-year-old.
