Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new midfielder and Weston McKennie.

Gold has shot down a few of the recent rumours regarding midfield players and Tottenham Hotspur, stating that the links to defensive midfielders are wide of the mark.

However, he does say that there is one player in that mould that Tottenham truly would love to sign – Weston McKennie.

Indeed, the journalist says that Fabio Paratici would sign McKennie at Spurs in a heartbeat if he could, claiming that the Italian absolutely adores the Juventus midfielder.

Paratici loves McKennie

Gold spoke about the American star and Spurs.

“What’s really weird with the transfer market is that all of the links from Italy are for players that they already have similar in the midfield. I understand these are players that Paratici, and in some cases Conte, love. Weston McKennie. We know that Paratici adores him and would have him in a heartbeat at Spurs,” Gold said.

Chance to sign him

Paratici would seemingly love to sign McKennie, and his dream may become a reality in the January transfer window.

Indeed, with Juventus facing some serious financial struggles right now, the Old Lady need to sell a few players, and McKennie is one who could well be on the chopping block.

Of course, Spurs will have competition here – after all, McKennie was one of the stars of the 2022 World Cup and will have plenty of teams scrambling to sign him up if Juventus are indeed looking to sell.

When your Sporting Director likes a player this much, it’s always a situation to keep an eye on.
