Speaking on the Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Alan Shearer has been discussing Trent Alexander-Arnold and his set-piece ability.
The pundit was tasked with picking the 10 greatest set-piece specialists in Premier League history, and unsurprisingly, Alexander-Arnold made the cut.
However, unfortunately for the right-back, he wasn’t in Shearer’s top five, but the Newcastle legend says that in a few years’ time he’ll be considered the best set-piece taker in Premier League history.
What’s been said?
Shearer predicted that Alexander-Arnold will go down as the greatest set-piece taker ever.
“If we sit here again, and you are still with us in 10 years’ time, then I am certain that Trent Alexander-Arnold will be at number one,” Shearer said to Gary Lineker.
“I wouldn’t disagree, he will be right up there, it’s hard to beat, he will be up there,” Lineker added.

One of the best
The fact that Alexander-Arnold is already in the top 10 at the age of 23 shows just how brilliant he is.
Will he reach number one? Well, there’s someone else currently in the Premier League who may have a thing or two to say about that.
Indeed, James Ward-Prowse is closing in on David Beckham’s free-kick record, and while Alexander-Arnold is unbelievable on dead balls, Ward-Prowse is on another level at the moment.
Of course, Alexander-Arnold has age and time on his side, so he could still improve, but at the moment, you have to say that Ward-Prowse is the Premier League’s top dog when it comes to set plays.
