Time and time again, Lloris’ virtuoso performances and scarcely-believable reflexes have provided the platform for points that appeared to be slipping away. Without him in between the sticks, Tottenham’s Champions League sojourn would have been even more short-lived. Who could forget that time-slowing stop to deny Javier Hernandez against Bayer Leverkusen?
He is every bit as essential as Harry Kane at the other end in that he does what a world-class goalkeeper should. He wins you points.
In fact, according to Opta, Lloris has kept 50 clean sheets in 151 Premier League games in front of Spurs’ net, the best percentage of any goalkeeper to play more than 25 games for the capital club (33 per cent).
