Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after WhoScored shared an impressive statistic about Ollie Watkins.
As the tweet above shows, Aston Villa’s No.11 ranks among some of Europe’s best forwards for touches inside the box this season.
The £28 million man has only registered four fewer touches than Lionel Messi, which speaks volumes as to how involved he has been in an attacking sense this season.
To us, this statistic is a surprising one, as it feels like Watkins spends most of his time running the channels.
The 25-year-old is a tireless runner who will put in the graft for the Villans in wide areas, similar to Jamie Vardy at Leicester.
However, Watkins has proven he has more to his game than just being a workhorse after WhoScored posted this eye-catching statistic.

It really has been a phenomenal debut season for the £75,000-a-week man.
Watkins has scored 16 goals in all competitions under Dean Smith, while also providing five assists.
The Torquay-born frontman also earned his first England cap, and marked the occasion with a goal against San Marino.

Hopefully, Aston Villa can sign an out-and-out winger this summer so Watkins doesn’t come out wide as often.
With the ex-Brentford man in the middle more often, he’ll surely score more goals.
Let’s see what the Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been saying about WhoScored’s statistic…
