According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are keen on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The Magpies are now one of the richest clubs in the world, but it seems as though they won’t be looking to sign superstars such as Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland just yet.
Indeed, instead, the Tyneside club are reportedly keen to bring in a number of proven, attainable, Premier League players and Calvert-Lewin certainly fits that bill.
The striker is an England international and a proven goalscorer in this league, and on top of that, he’s even impressed Alan Shearer in the past.

Shearer has previously waxed-lyrical about Calvert-Lewin on Match of the Day (17/10/20) after he scored a brilliant goal against Liverpool.
“Wow. Put it in the box he’s going to get on the end of it, get off it (Andrew) Robertson, I’m going to get in front of the defender. Get up first, nobody is going to stop him,” Shearer said.
“To get the direction, to get the power, the accuracy, all of that, absolutely magnificent. What a start. England cap, England goal, top-scorer in the Premier League. Wow. Impressive.”

Newcastle have had some fantastic strikers during the Premier League era.
Shearer, Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, Peter Beardsley and Michael Owen are just a selection of the star strikers we’ve seen at St James’ Park over the years, and Calvert-Lewin could follow in their footsteps.
Indeed, the 24-year-old is a brilliant forward, he’s been starring for Everton for a number of years now and he has all of the attributes needed to go to the very top.
