According to Calciomercato, Liverpool are keen to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, a man who has struck fear into Pep Guardiola on numerous occasions.
The Italian news outlet believe Jürgen Klopp is eyeing a move for the Ivory Coast international when his contract expires in July, as the German aims to improve his attacking options.
If Liverpool are able to sign Zaha, they may find themselves enjoying more victories over Manchester City, given the trouble he has caused Guardiola over the years.
Liverpool can sign Guardiola’s nightmare in Zaha
Well, the Spaniard once admitted that he was “concerned” by the 29-year-old, but also “very impressed” by his ability.
As quoted by the Independent, Guardiola said: “I’m really impressed with what Zaha is able to do. He is a guy who can turn the game. He’s won a lot of points by himself. That’s what I have to be concerned about.”

Back in 2020, the Spaniard also warned his Manchester City players not to let Zaha run at them, before he did exactly that in stoppage time to force a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
In total, the Crystal Palace No.11 has faced the Citizens on 15 occasions, scoring once while also providing one assist.
That record may not seem too great, but interestingly, Zaha has actually managed to help the south Londoners win three and draw three of those games – a better points return than most sides get against Manchester City.
Liverpool must sign Zaha
In our view, if Zaha doesn’t sign a new contract at Selhurst Park and leaves for free, it would be the best market opportunity of the summer – Liverpool have to take advantage of it.
The Ivorian – who scored at Anfield earlier this season – can play on either flank, as well as in the centre, so he would give Klopp plenty of flexibility across the frontline.
In many ways, Zaha would be the ideal replacement for Sadio Mane.
Of course, he will be 30 when his contract ends, but as he seems to be getting better with age, Klopp shouldn’t let that put him off.
