Frank Leboeuf has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is facing an ‘impossible’ task at Paris Saint-Germain, after showing he was a ‘good coach’ at Tottenham, as he told ESPN.
The France legend claimed that ‘nobody is the boss’ at PSG, as Pochettino continues to find life tough after being sacked by Spurs, despite currently being touted for the Manchester United job.
Pochettino could be in line for a return to the Premier League, with the Man United job up for grabs and crazy rumours emerging.
The Mirror suggested that the French club would be willing to let Pochettino leave for Old Trafford, but only if they allow Man United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, to head in the other direction.
It hasn’t been as plain sailing as Poch would have liked, ever since Daniel Levy pulled the trigger on him in 2019, as Leboeuf explained why things are difficult for him.
On how Poch is viewed in Paris: “Not a good one,” said Leboeuf. “People think he doesn’t have the key to the dressing room.
“And like all the previous coaches that have been into the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room, you can’t hold it. It’s impossible.
“Nobody is the boss because it’s impossible to be the boss. Pochettino is a good coach. He showed it when he was at Tottenham.
“If he has the key of the dressing room, if everybody doesn’t interfere with him, then he might do a good job – at PSG, it’s very difficult to be listened to by the players.”
PSG lost the Ligue 1 title to Lille last season, but they now hold a 13-point lead on bitter rivals Marseille at the top of the table, so winning the title again shouldn’t be an issue.
Despite putting five goals past the champions over the weekend, some are still searching for what Pochettino has brought to the table in Paris.
They recently got dumped out of the French cup to Nice on penalties and they have looked unconvincing in the Champions League.
Whilst Spurs have gone through a number of difficult years, they would argue that they now have a better coach in charge in Antonio Conte.
Therefore, it has to be questioned, why would Man United now push for Poch given that he has lost that gloss to his managerial game and he isn’t even better than a manager on Tottenham’s touchline?
