According to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Tottenham want to sign Willy Boly in this summer transfer window.

Spurs certainly need a new defender, and they’ve been linked with plenty new centre-halves already with the likes of Jules Kounde, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Milan Skriniar all rumoured.

However, it seems as though Nuno could go back for a player he’s worked with at both Wolves and Porto in the shape of Boly, and when you look at how Nuno has spoken about the 30-year-old in the past, it’s no surprise that he wants to reunite with him again.

What has Nuno said?

Nuno rarely speaks out to praise his players, but with Boly he’s given him plenty of credit in the past.

“He’s an important player, definitely. He’s been able to raise his standards game by game. He had his injury, but he’s an important player for us – no doubt about it,” Nuno once said.

The manager also praised him on another occasion after an injury, describing him as fantastic.

“The worst is that what happened [on Saturday] is a moment of sadness. To see him in pain, suffering, was terrible. He’s a big guy; an important player and a fantastic man. We’ll miss him, of course,” Nuno said.

Perfect fit

The fact that Nuno has utilised Boly for two different clubs and wants to sign him for Spurs shows just how perfect he believes he is for his system.

The defender slots perfectly into his back three, he knows the system like the back of his hand, and he’s genuinely a quality player.

Of course, at the age of 30, he won’t have a massive resale value if Spurs do sign him, but for the upcoming season he’d do a great job in their defence.

It’s no surprise to hear that Nuno wants Boly, and if reports are to be believed, he may not be the only Wolves man to join Spurs this summer, with Daniel Podence also linked.
