Dan James has urged Wales to ‘keeping working hard’ on Instagram after the Leeds man helped his country record a valuable 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic on Friday.
The flying Leeds winger provided an assist and scored the equalising goal during their all-important World Cup qualifier.
In the absence of Gareth Bale, the likes of James and Aaron Ramsey stepped up, as the speedster sent this message to supporters.
“Important point last night,” said James. “And a great feeling in front of the travelling fans. We keep working hard.”
Both goals by Wales were outstanding and they will be kicking themselves in the foot in how they conceded the goals in Prague.
Following a swift counter, a cross was played into James who was charging down the middle.
And rather than take a difficult first touch and a second to take a strike, whilst being closed down by the keeper and two defenders, he just glanced the ball first time with his head towards the direction of the on-rushing Ramsey on his left-hand side.
It was outstanding awareness from a player known for his speed and Ramsey, whilst he didn’t shoot first time, sat down the opposition on a number of occasions before coolly slotting home.
That’s when the home team hitback, including a comedy own goal from Danny Ward, but that Wales engine didn’t stop.
James was making threatening attacking moves off the ball all night, this time he was fed through on goal and he did ever so well to slot home.
Leeds fans will be hoping to see more of that at Elland Road this season because if he can do that then there’s no reason why he can’t get close to double figures in terms of goals.
And that’s something Marcelo Bielsa needs more players, other than the usual suspects such as Patrick Bamford and Raphinha scoring.
