Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has been talking up the importance of Takumi Minamino at Liverpool.
The Japan international netted his first Anfield goal at the weekend and he could be set to play a key role in the coming months as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah get set to jet off to the African Cup of Nations.
Klopp says that Minamino is in great shape at the moment and he says that he’s an important player for the Reds due to his versatility, with the German claiming that Minamino can play in five positions.
What’s been said about Minamino?
Klopp spoke about how important Minamino is to Liverpool.
“He played for Japan in the last few games because he’s in great shape. That helps always when you want to start games for club and country. He’s in exceptional shape and that’s why it’s important for us, Taki is pretty much our first option for changing in five positions. It says a lot because he can play all of these different positions,” Klopp said.

Five positions
Klopp has made a big claim in stating that Minamino can play five different positions.
The Japanese attacker can certainly play anywhere across the front three, while we’re sure he could also do a job as an advanced midfielder.
Klopp also seems to think Minamino has what it takes to play in another role, and that’s just a testament to the 26-year-old’s ability and versatility.
Minamino may not be Liverpool’s best player, but his versatility makes him quite a vital asset.
