Well, Aston Villa are looking destined to complete yet another transfer.

Last week, Aston Villa pulled off a massive coup by bringing Philippe Coutinho to Bodymoor Heath on a loan agreement from Barcelona.

Since then, speculation is rife that Lucas Digne of Everton is about set to quit the Toffees in favour of joining up with Steven Gerrard’s Midlands outfit.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer is imminent.

The reliable Italian journalist has revealed on Twitter that Aston Villa are ‘confident’ of getting the agreement wrapped up today, claiming that personal terms have already been rubberstamped.

Medical?

According to The Independent, the French left-back is set to undergo medical examinations ahead of joining Aston Villa.

Digne earns £119,000 per week at Everton at the moment [Spotrac] and it seems probable that he’ll get at least the same money at Villa.

Even though he is reported to have told the Toffees manager Rafael Benitez that he’s intent on quitting, the defender is still only 28.

We’re talking about a player in the prime of his career and whatever personal terms are agreed, it’s surely worth it for Villa.

Listen, £25 million isn’t that much money for a peak left-back who’s proven in the Premier League.

Nobody Aston Villa sign will be a bigger name than Coutinho, but Digne could be a massive player for the Liverpool icon at Bodymoor Heath and that’s the thing to remember.
