Steven Gerrard made it two wins from two this weekend as Aston Villa squeaked past Crystal Palace as 2-1 victors at Selhurst Park.

Matt Targett and John McGinn were on target as Villa sealed a huge result against Palace. With the Midlands-based club now up the 11th in the Premier League table after winning six points in Gerrard’s first two matches.

Whilst the Villians were unable to keep a clean sheet, it was still an impressive result for the visitors. And once again, Marvelous Nakamba shone in the Villa midfield alongside McGinn.

The Zambia international, who arrived at Villa Park in 2019 for a reported fee of £11m according to Sky Sports News, was praised last week for his display against Brighton and Hove Albion. And it was more of the same on Saturday for Nakamba.

The 27-year-old midfielder had sparks of quality under Dean Smith. Yet with Gerrard at the helm, Nakamba is beginning to look like a different player entirely. With some fans comparing him to Chelsea star and recent UEFA Champions League winner N’golo Kante.

Indeed, Nakamba’s performances have improved massively since Gerrard’s arrival. And the midfielder was key in Villa’s huge result against Palace in the Engish capital.

The former Club Brugge star is really starting to find his feet in England. And Nakamba’s display against Palace was one of the best VIlla fans have seen from the African dynamo in some time.

The midfielder was often criticised by supporters on social media for some of his outings under Dean Smith. Yet yesterday against Palace was a different story, as many Villa fans were eager to praise Nakamba for what he did against Patrick Vieira’s side.

Here’s what some Villa fans had to say about Nakamba’s performance against Palace on Twitter…
