Premier League sides Everton and Wolves both want Preston North End’s Ben Davies.
Ben Davies might have just added a few more pounds onto his price tag.
The Preston North End centre-back is quickly making a name for himself at the heart of Alex Neil’s high-flying side with The Sun claiming that Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion are all keeping close tabs on one of the Championship’s most under-the-radar talents.
The 24-year-old rose through the ranks at Deepdale but, unless Preston make good on their early season form and bring Premier League football back to the banks of the Ribble, Davies could be on his way to the top flight without them.
It almost goes without saying, given the amount of interest from first division clubs, that Davies is very comfortable with the ball at his feet. But the 6ft 1ins stopper showed that he’s not afraid to stick his head in where it hurts too, producing a performance a la John Terry or Nemanja Vidic when Leeds United arrived at Deepdale on Tuesday.
Davies made nine clearances, won nine aerial duels, bullied Patrick Bamford into submission and made his £10 million price tag look like an absolute snip.
