Some Aston Villa fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that the Villans had made a £25m bid for Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe, which was rejected.
Strangely, rather than being excited about moving for a very talented 20-year-old midfielder from one of the biggest clubs in the country, Villa fans were more pre-occupied thinking about getting one over Arsenal.
There has been something of a faux-rivalry brewing between Arsenal and Villa over the past 12 months, starting with Emi Martinez moving to Villa Park before the Emi Buendia saga escalated the feud further.
It now seems as though there’s another transfer tussle happening between the two teams regarding Smith Rowe, and Villa fans are loving the fact that they’re once again trying to get the better of Arsenal.
Indeed, supporters loved the idea of riling the Gunners up with this bid, and while some fans admitted that this transfer was unrealistic, they loved the sheer audacity of trying to take one of the Gunners’ best young players from them.
Whether or not the Midlands club try again for Smith Rowe remains to be seen, but Villa fans are relishing the fact that they’ve even put in a bid.
