Some Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that Eddie Howe wants Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards at St. James’ Park.
What’s the story?
The Northern Echo have reported that newly-appointed Newcastle manager Howe wants Edwards to move to the Magpies.
The former Bournemouth manager and the Liverpool sporting director ‘have remained extremely close’ ever since they first worked with each other at Portsmouth in the early 2000s, according to the report.
Howe reportedly met Edwards at Anfield last week when he went to watch Liverpool’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid.
Newcastle part-owner Amanda Staveley’s advisory group reportedly want Edwards as well.
Eurosport reported in August 2021 that Edwards will leave Liverpool in the summer of 2022.

What are Newcastle United fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Newcastle fans are really excited at the prospect of having Edwards in a senior role at St. James’ Park.
Well, some of them anyway.
Edwards has been superb in his role as the sporting director of Liverpool.
The Liverpool official has been key in bringing a number of top players to Anfield, such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Alisson.
