Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Leeds United’s managerial situation and Weston McKennie.
The American was signed by Leeds on deadline day by Jesse Marsch, and just one day after his debut against Nottingham Forest, Marsch was sacked.
McKennie was largely thought to be a Marsch signing. After all, he is an American international, but now, the man who brought him to Leeds has gone.
Carragher can’t comprehend how McKennie must be feeling now as he’s ended up joining a club based on a selling point that no longer exists.
How must McKennie be feeling
Carragher tried to understand how the midfielder may be feeling.
“You think about how Weston McKennie must be feeling now. He came in off the back of the coach being American. It felt like a really good signing and then he didn’t start against Forest, imagine how he’s feeling now. It just goes to show the stakes of how high the Premier League are,” Carragher said.

Carragher pondered how McKennie must be feeling now, and it’s impossible to really understand what he must be going through.
Imagine turning up for a new job and on your first day your boss is sacked because they think he’s driving the company into the ground, what does that say about your position?
McKennie must be wondering what the future holds for him at Leeds. Will the new manager fancy him? Does his buy-option get triggered at the end of the season? He must have so many questions, and until Leeds have a new manager, they won’t be answered.
McKennie is in a unique and difficult situation right now, and we don’t envy him at all.
