Chris Sutton has told the Daily Mail that Leeds United need to make signings if they are to compete back in the Premier League.

Leeds are set to play in the top flight for the first time in 16 years next campaign, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side proving to be the strongest team in the Championship over the last campaign.

Sutton has concerns that Leeds may be left short in the Premier League if they don’t invest though.

Bielsa has tended not to rotate much at Elland Road this term, but Sutton thinks he could require more depth of quality in his squad next year.

And the pundit is excited to see Leeds linked with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, heading into the summer transfer window.

“Leeds were the best team in the Championship by some way and won’t show any fear among the big boys. Marcelo Bielsa will have them organised and playing on the front foot,” he said.

“My only concern is their lack of strength in depth and that’s why signings are needed. But it’s exciting to have Leeds back after 16 years away.

“They’re even being linked with Zlatan Ibrahimovic — imagine!”

It seems unlikely that Ibrahimovic will sign for Leeds, given his wage demands.

However, Leeds do seemingly have plans to invest in the summer – with plenty of players linked.

Andrea Radrizzani has suggested that Leeds could break their transfer record in the coming months, in what looks to be a hugely exciting time at Elland Road.
