Liverpool have a bit of a striker crisis on their hands heading into Monday’s game against Manchester United, but some of those worries may now be alleviated as Roberto Firmino has been pictured back in training.
Indeed, the Brazilian missed the Reds’ game against Crystal Palace earlier this week due to injury, but luckily, it seems as though his issues have subsided and he’s now been pictured back in full training competing with the rest of the squad.
This is, of course, a huge boost to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
With Diogo Jota out injured and Darwin Nunez suspended, Liverpool were set to head into their game against their arch rivals without a recognised centre-forward to choose from, but with Firmino back in action, the Reds can line-up with what is arguably their first-choice front three.
Firmino will be buzzing to be back as well. The Brazilian must be licking his lips at the prospect of coming up against this hapless Manchester United defence as the likes of Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez have gotten off to a torrid start this term.
Liverpool head into the game at Old Trafford on Monday as heavy favourites after Erik ten Hag’s shocking start to life in Manchester, and the odds are now stacked even more in the Merseysiders’ favour after Firmino’s return.
Let’s hope that this is the end of any injury issues for Firmino. He spent plenty of last season out injured, leading to Jordan Henderson proclaiming that he’ll be ‘like a new signing’ this term.
Firmino may be one of the most experienced players at Liverpool, but as Henderson said a few weeks ago, he could be like a new signing upon his return.
