Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes and West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta have reacted to Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho missing out on Brazil’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Villa playmaker expressed his sadness on Instagram at that news, with Newcastle and West Ham duo, Guimaraes and Paqueta, who have been selected, sending their words of comfort to the £17 million player (Sky Sports).
In the comments section of Coutinho’s IG post, Guimaraes told him ‘I am your fan’, whilst Paqueta added, ‘You are too great. God bless you, brother’.

In truth, Coutinho just isn’t good enough for Brazil’s midfield now because he lacks that energy, bite and spark to his game – that has been proven in Villa colours this season.
But that is provided by the likes of Guimaraes & Paqueta, who are thriving on the Premier League stage after joining in 2022.
Guimaraes arrived in January and he is now a firm fan favourite amongst the Newcastle United fans, whilst Paqueta joined in the summer, and on either side of his injury, he is starting to warm up in West Ham colours.
Either way, going by Tite’s past selections, Paqueta should be a certain starter for Brazil’s opener against Serbia, whilst Guimaraes might have a fight on his hands for a starting birth, despite his form in English football.
Casemiro is the defensive brain of the pack in the midfield three, with the energetic Manchester United midfielder Fred another favourite of Tite’s, with Paqueta pushed forward.
Either way, from front to back, this is a seriously talented Brazil squad that will be one of the favourites to go all the way.
