Liverpool youngster Rhys Williams has outlined his ambition to become a key player at Anfield while speaking to the club’s official website.
The defender earnt his first start for the club against Atalanta in midweek and he was mightily impressive.
He helped keep a clean sheet against one of the most potent attacks in Europe, and in the wake of that performance he’s eyeing up a bigger role in Jurgen Klopp’s team

“I want to become an irreplaceable piece of this side,” Williams said.
“It’s a great team with great players. I know it’s going to be hard but I’m willing to put the effort in, keep working and hopefully keep putting in performances when I get the chance.”
If Williams is going to become a key player for Liverpool, these coming weeks may be his best opportunity.
Centre-back is something of a problem position for the Reds at the moment with the injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Fabiho leaving them depleted at the back.
Williams seems to have given Klopp an extra option beside Joel Matip and Joe Gomez, and if he keeps performing as he did against Atalanta he will quickly move up the pecking order.
The fact that Williams acknowledges how hard it’s going to be, but states that he’s willing to put the work in is incredibly encouraging as that’s exactly the type of mindset you want you young, emerging players to have.
