Alasdair Gold has revealed to Football London that Christian Eriksen’s priority is to remain in London, amid speculation about a return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Denmark international has reminded everyone of his ability these past few months since returning to the Premier League, joining Brentford.

However, Eriksen, who quit Tottenham in a £20 million deal during the winter of 2020 under Jose Mourinho, is out of contract with the Bees this summer.

Spurs are linked with re-signing the former Inter Milan playmaker – who played under Antonio Conte in Italy – and Gold, who exclusively covers the Lilywhites for Football London, has revealed that the player still has a massive soft spot for the club and that he wishes to remain in the English capital.

Gold said: “I’m told that while he didn’t depart Spurs on the best of terms with the Tottenham hierarchy, he still loves the club and his preference is believed to be to remain in London.”

Exciting

It’s absolutely exciting, yes.

There’s a lot of Tottenham supporters who feel that their club still haven’t replaced Eriksen.

The Dane left for Italy over two years ago and you could argue that even now, the Lilywhites are lacking a proper playmaker.

And that’s where Eriksen comes in because as he has proven these past few months, he remains the real deal in terms of creativity and exerting an influence in spite of his major health problems last summer.

Not only do Tottenham need a player like Eriksen, but to actually re-sign the man himself would thrill a massive chunk of this fanbase.

And based on Gold’s comments, well it isn’t that unlikely.
