Dhamarsh Sheth has told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (11/08/21 at 5:20 pm) that Alex Rúnarsson will leave if Aaron Ramsdale joins Arsenal.
The Sky reporter claims that both Arsenal and Sheffield United remain in talks for Ramsdale but there is ‘still a gap in valuation’.
Arsenal have been chasing a goalkeeper all summer, and with deadline day looming, they clearly need a body through the door as quickly as possible.
It seems as though the man running Arsenal’s transfer ship, Edu, does remain ‘hopeful’ that a deal can be done for the Blades shot-stopper.
“Aaron Ramsdale remains Arsenal’s number one goalkeeping target,” said Sheth. “We understand they remain in talks with Sheffield United.
“Still a gap in valuation. But I am told Arsenal do remain hopeful that they can strike a deal.
“If Ramsdale does join they will then allow Alex Rúnarsson to leave because they then want Ramsdale to provide competition for Bernd Leno.”

If Rúnarsson does leave the Emirates then it has been a pretty difficult road for the 26-year-old in North London.
From the get-go, he struggled to adapt to English football and Mikel Arteta is making the right move by replacing him.
But is Ramsdale the right guy? Well, Premier League legend, Alan Shearer, dubbed the Englishman as ‘fearless’ last season, as he told the Premier League’s YouTube channel.
So, if he can bring that type of mentality to the Emirates then it will help him a long way in the pressure-cooker of a role in Arsenal colours.
