Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has told Sky Sports (Transfer Live blog, 11:53am, February 1, 2021) that reported Arsenal target Patrick van Aanholt will not leave Crystal Palace today.

The Mirror has claimed that Arsenal want to sign left-back Van Aanholt from London and Premier League rivals Palace on deadline day.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta himself hinted today that he could bring in a new left-back before the window closes.

However, Sky Sports journalist Bridge has claimed that Palace will not sell the 30-year-old today, with the Netherlands international out of contract at the end of the season.

Bridge told Sky Sports (Transfer Live blog, 11:53am, February 1, 2021): “Meanwhile, one player who could be on his way out in the summer is Patrick van Aanholt. There were newspaper reports last night linking him a surprise Deadline Day move to Arsenal. I’m told there’s nothing in that.”

Disappointment for Arsenal

Kieran Tierney is the first-choice left-back at Arsenal at the moment, and that is not going to change anytime soon.

However, with Sead Kolasinac having left in January, the Gunners could do with a back-up left-back.

Van Aanholt is a very experienced left-back and would make the Gunners better, but it seems that Palace will not sell him now.

Perhaps Arsenal should now look somewhere else, but with just hours left before the window closes tonight, it is a race against time.
